Evaluation of Preliminary Task.

Evaluation of Preliminary Task.

When we filmed the preliminary task we followed all the criteria that was needed to include in the film. We demonstrated match on action, shot reverse shot, and the 180 degree rule.

We demonstrated shot reverse shot when me and Courtney sat opposite each other. I think that this turned out rather well and I liked how easy and simple it is to do and learnt that it's actually commonly used in films.

I liked that the shots flowed smoothly through each one and had good continuity though out most of it.

I didn't like how in the scene were we used match on action with the door the frame moved because the camera was moved between shots which was extremely noticeable when cutting both parts of the door being opened together.

A problems we encountered when we filmed two different shots from opening the door to the running through to the table and they didn't cut well together because of the camera being moved, this then ruined the continuity. Also in the shot of Courtney opening the door, Shannon is still in the shot where she pressed the button on the door for Courtney to get in. This has taught us to leave more space between shots with more time so that errors such as this can easily be edited out.

Ideas For Preliminary Task

When we looked at doing something for the preliminary task we thought that we should try to make it fun by making a really bad joke for it. We then discussed what could be portrayed as a good one and started to make ideas based around a plush lion.

Ideas bellow:
  • Running to tell friend important news?
  • Dramatic excitment!
  • Make a pun on news?
  • A lion plush (Kevin the lion)
  • Engagement to lion
  • Pulls out a giant lion
  • Sit there like "What..."
  • You've got to be LION
  • Have disbelief at news
  • Leaves with lion right behind
  • Sad actor walks down the hall with lion

The Preliminary Task

Preliminary Task

The preliminary task is a continuity task where we shall need to film and edit a character that opens a door, then crossing the room to sit opposite another character where they then both speak a few lines of dialog between them. This task will need to include demonstrations of match on action, shot/ reverse shot and the 180 degree rule.
Continuity editing gives the person who is watching (the viewer/you) an impression that the action that is happening, happens consistently and flows as if each part happens straight after the next.
